Our approach
The front cover shows two girls in bright dresses walking hand in hand down a cobbled street lined with flowers and glowing lanterns, with a small dog in a bandana beside them and a wooden sign carrying the author name. The title is set in large, hand-drawn capitals in purple and pink, with the subtitle “A Story About Friendship, Belonging & Growing Together”.
The purple spine repeats the title and author name. The back cover carries the series line, “part of the ManifestHer Minis series”, a short series description, the author's website and a barcode, set in light serif type over a darker continuation of the illustration. On the back, the two girls and the dog are seen from behind, sitting together on a garden wall.
We wrote the story and created the illustrations as well as designing the cover, so the words, artwork and cover were developed together as one book.
