Brave Little Steps: Picture Book Story, Illustration and Cover

The front cover shows two girls and a small orange dog climbing a winding staircase of blocks, books and stepping stones up a flower-covered hill towards a castle, with hot-air balloons in a sunset sky. The title is set in a bold, rounded serif in red and purple, with the subtitle “A Story About Courage, Kindness, and the Amazing Things You Can Do” beneath it and the author name on a small wooden sign.

The purple spine carries the title, author name and small star ornaments. The back cover carries the series line, “part of the ManifestHer Minis series”, a short series description, the author's website and a barcode, set in light serif type over a darker continuation of the illustration. The cover is shown here as a hardcover being read by a child.

We wrote the story and created the illustrations as well as designing the cover, so the words, artwork and cover were developed together as one book.
