You Were Born Worthy: Picture Book Story, Illustration and Design

Story, illustrations, cover and interior layout for You Were Born Worthy by Stef Caldwell: a sunset hilltop castle on the cover, and spreads that pair warm full-colour illustrations with short rhyming verses in purple.

Scope
Story writing, illustration, cover and interior layout
An open spread of You Were Born Worthy beside its cover: on the left, a stork carrying a baby over a sunset valley; on the right, a father reading to a toddler with a small dog, each above a short purple verse; the cover shows two girls climbing steps to a castle, with the title in red and purple and the author name, Stef Caldwell, on a wooden sign.

Our approach

The cover shares the series' hilltop-castle scene, with the title in large red and purple lettering, the subtitle “A Story About Big Dreams, Tiny Steps, And Becoming You.” and the author name on a wooden sign.

Inside, each page places a framed full-colour illustration (here, a stork carrying a baby over a sunset valley, and a father reading to a toddler beside a small dog) above a short, centred verse set in purple serif type, leaving generous white space so the text reads easily.

We wrote the rhyming story text, created every illustration and laid out the pages, so the words and pictures were planned together, spread by spread.
